Clear Web Server Obsolete

Apache Server Integration

imageWe are pleased to announce a technical milestone which effectively renders the Clear Enterprise Web Server obsolete.

Those of you who already use the Clear Enterprise Web Server will know of it's inherent flaws and unreliable nature. It has long been the weak link in the chain between Professional Leading Edge eCommerce solutions and the Clear Enterprise database. Mushroom Systems has completed work on integrating the Apache Web server with the Clear Enterprise database, which allows complete 100% backward compatibility for all Clear Enterprise based web sites and Web based appliances.

Mushroom Systems is renowned for ensuring the support levels of it's customers, and to that end undertook the R&D required to create a pathway away from the Clear Enterprise Web Server, whilst maintaining a seamless transition of Web Sites and Portals, with virtually no modifications required.

FAQ

Q) Will I need to change any of our code for our web site / PDA / Portal that we already have?
A) No, you simply turn off the Clear Enterprise Web Server, and turn on Apache, and it all just works.

Q) How much does it Cost?
A) Apache is Free. Our new connector is Free. We are charging for one days contracting time for you to have Apache installed and your site up and running again.

Q) Are any changes required of my Clear Enterprise System, workflows, extensions, applets etc?
A) No. Minor setting changes etc may be required in some instances.

Q) Does this affect my License Agreement or Support Agreement with Clear Objective?
A) No. As there are no changes to your Clear Enterprise code, and no additional extensions etc required to be installed, it does not actually "touch" your Clear Enterprise system. Any code that was updating your data etc from the Web Site was already in place and has nothing to do with Apache server.

Q) Will I need changes to the Apache Server as new versions of Clear Enterprise are released?
A) No. The technology is not specific to a given version of Clear Enterprise, nor is the Clear Enterprise "SDK" required to be purchased from Clear Objective.

Q) Who will support it in the future?
A) Any number of consulting companies (Including Mushroom Systems) can support a standard Apache server. Apache requires very little maintenance, and really there is nothing to actually "do". The part that connects to Clear is a small connector written in a widely known language, and the source code is on the server.

Q) What is Apache?
A) The Apache HTTP Server is a web server for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Novell NetWare, Mac OS X and other operating systems. Apache is notable for playing a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web.

Apache is developed and maintained by an open community of developers under the auspices of the Apache Software Foundation. Released under the Apache License, the Apache HTTP Server is free/open source software. The Mushroom Systems website is hosted on an Apache Server. For more information, go to the Apache main Web Site.
